About W-4 Easy Guide
Our mission: make filling out the IRS Form W-4 as simple as possible for everyone — from high-school students getting their first job to new parents figuring out how a baby changes their withholding.
Why this site exists
The W-4 is one of the first tax forms most people ever fill out — and for years it has been one of the most confusing. The form changed significantly in 2020, eliminating the "allowances" system that everyone's parents remember, and replacing it with dollar amounts, worksheets, and multi-job tables. The official IRS instructions are accurate but dense.
W-4 Easy Guide was built to bridge that gap. Our free tool asks you a handful of plain-English questions and tells you exactly what to write on every line of the form. Our guides translate the current IRS rules into language anyone can understand — and also translate the old "claim 0 or 1" mental model that many people are still working from.
